Meta has announced the final software update 2021 for Meta Quest – previously known as the Oculus quest – and it looks like it’s big. Playing into the “Metaverse” angle behind the change in Facebook’s name to Meta, there is actually no ton related to VR gaming in this update. Conversely, mostly focused on mixed reality and usability, with some large features flowing down the pipe.

Mixed reality cameras for cellular calls and messenger VR

In addition, the most significant new addition in update version 35 Quest is the launch of a new feature called a cellphone reality camera. With this feature, you can display friends like what VR games through mixed reality thrown into smartphones – iPhone, in particular. Yes, for now, it seems that the reality camera is a mixture of exclusive cellular for iOS, because it requires an iPhone XS or the newly running iOS 11 or higher. It also requires an update version 139 that has not been damaged for the Oculus application, so it seems that this feature is not yet available.

When staying, you will be able to throw your VR gameplay visual to the phone. It is separate from the direct overlay feature Quest in that it uses the camera on the cellphone to display players in the game rather than overcoming the user video above the headset. When available, cellular mixed reality cameras will be supported by a dozen games, including defeating Saber and Superhot VR.

Join the mixed reality camera because the other main features are VR calls for Messenger. This is one of the meta features announced on Connect in October – the same event where it announced that it wasted Facebook’s name at the company level. Messenger VR calls more or less doing what he says in the can, allows you to make voice calls through messenger when using your headset.

Multi-user support, application sharing, and backup cloud

While multi-user support and sharing applications is not a new feature, they enter the release full of updates Quest’s version 35. This means that Meta sure these features work quite well to drop experimental labels, but for those who have used features, no which will change. However, Meta said that multi-user support and sharing applications are now managed through the account tab in the settings menu, so the quest user must record the change.
